Visitor Welcome Hub and Interpretation Stands for Temple Newsam

We’ve been working with the team at Temple Newsam to help them enhance their visitor experience with a new welcome hub and a set of 35 interpretation stands for use throughout the historic house to bring its collections to life.

Temple Newsam is a striking Tudor-Jacobean country house in Leeds which displays one of the most important collections of fine and decorative arts in the UK. Once home to Lord Darnley, the notorious husband of Mary Queen of Scots, the country house museum captures over 500 years of history with furniture, ceramics, textiles and interiors dating back generations.

We are very proud to have been commissioned to design a welcome hub to provide easy access to information for visitors when they arrive, helping them make the most of their visit. We have also designed and manufactured 35 interpretation stands which will be used to hold material which tells the story of some of the most interesting features and items on show in each room.

The welcome hub has been designed so that it can be accessed easily from all sides. It will hold guides, trails and information suitable for the many different visitors that pass through the building every year. The interpretation stands are being used throughout the historic house. They have been designed with several tiers that hold placards with information on the artefacts contained in that room. The placards will make it easier for visitors of all ages to interact with the displays and learn more about the history of the art, interiors and collections.

Our brief was to design something durable and understated in wood that would complement the historic surroundings. The designs are streamlined, elegant and easy to use. Our team came up with a number of solutions, all of which met the customer’s needs, giving them plenty of options.

When we started the manufacturing process, our all singing and dancing Bacci 5-axis CNC machine did us proud. We were able to streamline the  production process and manufacture the components with precision, uniformity, accuracy and efficiency.

We used solid oak, oak veneer and ply which will ensure the furniture will stand the test of time and heavy use. make sure the , putting our CNC machines to good use to manufacture with uniformity, accuracy and efficiency.

The new furniture is now in place, just in time for the peak visitor season.
