We found plenty to keep us challenged with this bespoke attic home office project for a customer who is renovating a Regency style house. The house had been converted into offices but he is taking it back to its full glory step by step.
The customer challenge
Our customer had a few requirements for his bespoke attic home office. It needed to:
- be free-standing and look fitted in this awkward space with sloping ceiling
- have plenty of office and library space and have space to hold small meetings
- include some of the period pilaster details which can be found elsewhere in the living room
What we did
We created many computer renders (3D images) of the proposed layout until the look and details were right. Our customer was able to be very involved in how the office layout was working for his purpose.
- We have designed a sheltered desk in the home office part to allow privacy and cosiness
- The library includes a “peninsula” bookcase which helps divide the space into working or meeting areas
- We have built-in a wiring system to allow for computer cooling needs
- We have fitted an LED track at the top of the library for mood setting
- We have chosen a modular design which fits within 6mm of the sloping roof and helps give a fitted look
- The whole home office and library is completely free standing and can be moved should the customer wish to
- We have included adjustable shelves
- The interior is lacquered for robustness and the exterior is oiled for texture.
- The library is built in oak and burr oak with detailing to the pilasters and crowning
- And we have built in a secret compartment!
