We are very proud of this large walnut bespoke fitted library, which we created for a customer in North Yorkshire.
Bespoke libraries and home offices or fitted bookshelves that have been carefully planned and fitted maximise the available space to create a room that is a pleasure to read and work in.
Dovetailors’ design process for bespoke furniture takes into account individual practical needs as well as being sympathetic to the style of the property.
The customer’s challenge for this walnut bespoke fitted library
Our customer had a substantial collection of books and wanted a bespoke library of shelves for display along with cupboards and drawers to keep the space tidy. The style needed to be contemporary but had to complement the Georgian style of the house.
Our solution
Walnut is a sophisticated wood that suited the style of this period residence. Our design made a feature of the shelves for display purposes. We incorporated grille-style cupboards and handmade drawers with carefully crafted dovetails for strength and durability.
Special features of this walnut bespoke fitted library
- Handcrafted dovetail joints
- Colonnade style pillars
- Feature shelving
- Symmetrical design
- Integrated cupboards and drawers
- Individually sourced brass decorative grilles
David, our Creative Director, says:
“We are particularly proud of the level of craftsmanship and engineering that goes into a project such as this. It takes time to hand-cut the dovetails and make something with such attention to detail but it means that every piece that leaves our workshop has been built with passion and integrity.”
