Our bespoke baptismal font for Liverpool Parish Church is a triumphant collaboration between our ecclesiastical church furniture makers, the church community and some talented British artisans.

Designed collaboratively for the community

When Liverpool Parish Church asked us to help them design and make a new font, they were keen to introduce the story of the local community into the design. We worked closely with Liverpool glass artist Katharine Bayes, who created three stained glass panels to depict the church, its location, its heritage and its current role in the community.

The three glass panels represent the Holy Trinity with green leaves to represent the Father and creator, red and orange flames for the Son and a blue cascading waterfall for the Holy Spirit.

This design encapsulates the meaning of bespoke. It is both personal and purposeful and has some very special features including:

  • Concealed lighting to illuminate the stained glass work
  • A stone font bowl cut by Hillhouse Edge quarries in Holmfirth
  • An elegantly curved oak frame
  • Brass rails for stability and strength

The design made full use of our 5-axis CNC machine which also meant we could manufacture with maximum efficiency, keeping costs as affordable as possible for the church.
