This rectangular oak dining table and benches was originally made for a customer who wanted a good looking kitchen table that would withstand the rigours of family life. They wanted somewhere to dine, write, read, do homework and even arts and crafts.
We designed this modern interpretation of a traditional refectory-style dining table with benches for them and have made it in different sizes and adaptations for several customers since. It has proved to be one of our most popular custom made furniture designs.
Figured quartered solid oak and bespoke stainless steel brushes give this design a unique modern style. And the matching benches as stools fit neatly under the table. We have been asked to make the benches with an integrated backrest and this is easily done.

This oak dining table is beautifully hand-finished in oil, to add depth and vibrancy, using Osmo Polyx Hardwax-Oil in clear satin. We chose this finish because it is made from natural oils and waxes, and is breathable and clear. This allows the true colour and character of the wood to shine through. And it is hard-wearing and water-resistant, giving it a family-friendly finish.
