One of the advantages of having such a personal design process is that it naturally leads to long lasting relationships with our customers. We believe customer care is important and we’re proud that many of ours regularly keep in touch to let us know how their Dovetailors furniture is faring.
We love to hear from the people we’ve worked with over the years – a bit like those TV shows that follow people who have had a house or garden makeover to find out where they are now.
That’s why we were so delighted to hear from one of our past customers who got in touch to share some recent photos of two pieces of our bespoke furniture.
We came up with two very distinctive designs for them, one of which has been requested several times since by other customers who have wanted it recreating in various sizes, woods and finishes.
The coffee table has in fact become one of our best-selling designs. Theirs was the first burr walnut coffee table we ever made.
When we saw the recent pictures of it in our customer’s home it brought back memories of the thought and attention to detail that went into every stage of the design and making process. We hand selected and book-matched the burr veneers and developed a striking curved design with laminated birch supports and a hand-burnished piano finish.
We then made another piece to complement our original design for this customer, a burr oak media cabinet that they could open from either side. That piece of furniture demonstrated perfectly the importance of functionality alongside good looks and how bespoke design can create something that fills a specific purpose and just doesn’t exist anywhere else.
It’s good to see that the media unit and coffee table are both looking good after all this time and continuing to serve our customers well. We develop such a close relationship with our bespoke furniture customers during the design process that it’s always great to stay in touch. Designing bespoke furniture is a creative journey that starts with an idea and can end in unexpected places. That was certainly true with these two pieces of furniture, which have not only fulfilled a need for our customer but have also inspired many more people who have walked through our door or visited our website since.
