Oak and glass trestle meeting table and oak stacking boardroom chairs
Project brief
Sunny Bank Mills in Leeds is a heritage building that is home to a wide range of businesses. In fact, it used to be our home until we outgrew the space there. It is a beautiful converted mill in Farsley with a large meeting room which is regularly used by tenants as a boardroom and for other meetings and events.
Our existing relationship with Sunny Bank Mills meant they were already familiar with our design and manufacturing capabilities and liked our approach and attention to detail. They were also aware of our trestle table and stacking chair designs, which we started developing during our time there.
What we did
This project involved one of our best-selling ranges, the trestle, and one of our newest, the oak stacking chair.
Our trestle legs are one of our best-selling designs and we have been commissioned to make them for many different settings and styles, including corner desks and coffee tables. In this case, we were asked to make trestles for a large glass-topped meeting table.
The first step was to calculate the precise measurements needed for trestles that would support a glass top of the size requested. We have done this many times for different sized tables. We then set about manufacturing them to size using solid oak.
The chairs are also solid oak with an oil finish. We used our Bacci 5 axis CNC machine to make them, programming it carefully and running through an air cut and a beech wood run first, making a few adjustments to the programme before setting it up to manufacture the components. This method gives maximum efficiency, accuracy and uniformity.

Special features
The chairs feature an extra rail for improved strength and stability
The trestles and chairs are made in oak finished in oil making them durable and bringing out the beauty of the grain.
The stacking ability of the chairs offers a degree of flexibility, without compromising the aesthetic which is great for a meeting room.
What our team said
We are always pleased to be asked to make pieces that will be used and enjoyed locally and are particularly proud to have been commissioned to create this furniture for Sunnybank Mills, where our workshop used to be based. The trestle leg design was developed by our team during our time here and the chair also started to take shape while we were here.
These pieces have been made with care and built to last. We hope they are enjoyed and provide many years of service to those using this room.
What the customer said
They look superb and it will be great to have something that will last along as the mill buildings around them!
