We’ve moved to a bigger space

Over the last few weeks we’ve been moving our entire workshop to a new place where we will have lots more space for our growing number of commercial and ecclesiastical projects.

In recent years these two important sides of our business have really expanded and, with limited space in our previous workshop, we found we were spending half our time moving things around to make room. It certainly kept us fit but we were all keen to spend more time making and less time shifting stuff.

The new space will provide a much better working environment for our wonderful team, all of whom give so much and have put up with the limited space for so long. We now have 9 people at Dovetailors, having this year added a trainee and an experienced maker to the team.

Our new place will give us extra room for expansion and there is far better accessibility for commercial deliveries and collections.

We can attribute our expanding volume of work to two things. The first is our growing reputation for quality wood component manufacturing and specialist church furniture design, which we are extremely proud of. The second factor is our decision to invest in a second 5-axis CNC. This has undoubtedly increased our capabilities and the capacity of the workshop. It makes us a cost-effective component maker for high end British furniture designers and allows us to work on more complex designs. This means we can bring even more value for furniture designers who are keen to explore different shapes and new markets.

It has been a busy few weeks and we’d like to thank all our customers for bearing with us as we have transferred our whole operations a few miles up the road. We are now fully set up and, having delivered our latest ecclesiastical project – an altar for Newport Cathedral – before Christmas, we have now started work on some beautiful choir stalls for Croydon Minster.
